The WAMICON Committee has chosen the beautiful Sand Key Beach in Clearwater FL as the site of the 2009 WAMICON. Sand Key is a barrier island located just south of Clearwater Beach and north of Belle air Beach along the central West Coast of Florida. The northern tip of the beach is home to Sand Key Park, which is well know for shelling on its beautiful, white sandy beaches and for fishing on the jetty. Sand Key bills itself as “14 Miles of Heaven,” where you can play on the beach, watch a stunning sunset, or picnic under the Florida pine trees that line the beach. Sand Key Park is situated on 95 pristine acres between the Gulf and the Florida mainland just a short walk from the conference hotel.
Clearwater Pass, leading from the Gulf of Mexico to the Intracoastal Waterway, separates Sand Key from the popular resort area of Clearwater Beach. All types of water sports are available such as, swimming, water skiing, shelling, diving, sailing and sunbathing. For those who prefer their excitement on land, Sand Key is near museums, shopping, world-class restaurants, golf courses, tennis courts and bike trails.
